Benefits of nutmeg & cinnamon

september 19, 2022 | Natalia Edelmann

I used to have over 2 cups of coffee a day when I used to work in wealth management.

Then I stopped coffee for a few years. I can't believe how long ago that was.

Buuutttt... now I'm back to my french press. I put in organic ground coffee into a french press, and I add a few dashes of nutmeg and a few dashes of cinnamon.

Sometimes, I even add a few dashes of cocoa.

What's your coffee ritual?

There has always been this great debate about coffee since I started paying attention to media. It's good to be curious.

Life is so interesting - how can you not be curious?

I got extremely curious when I was getting my wellness coaching certification.

Nutrition is a big topic - It's one of the 12 main Life Elements.

Food is about eating on the outside, having awareness from the inside, and feeling nourished energetically.

It of course spills into your other areas because it's all connected. I'm sure you've heard that before, but I'm saying it again in case you haven't or you need the reminder.

It's also why every person that uses their unique brilliance to help others is able to elevate the well-being of others and themselves.

Starting September with a Wellness Conference, I’m reminded how far I’ve come and I learned so many new things.

I’ve been putting nutmeg and cinnamon in my French Press coffee.

When I was in Wealth Management , I would have a number of coffees a day.

Now, it’s few and far between, but when I do, I take the time to enjoy it.

I froth my milk, I brew the coffee… it’s a process.

But before I brew, I had some nutmeg and cinnamon.

Why?

‘nutmeg contains an impressive array of powerful compounds that may help prevent disease and promote your overall health.’

~ Healthline

1. Antioxidants - protecting your body at the cellular level so you can prevent disease.

2. Anti-Inflammatory - reducing inflammation in your body

3. Libido-Boosting - Nutmeg can enhance the mood in the bedroom is always good for the body.

4. Antibacterial - protecting your body from harmful bacteria.

5. Supports Heart Health, Dental Health, Mental Health - it's been proven to help support gum health.

My challenge to you is to get curious on the benefits I mentioned. Ask your doctor and other health professionals in your circle.

The reason why I like french press is so that you too can tell me that it tastes sooo good.

When you drink coffee that’s been brewed with a French Press, you’re getting the pure taste of the coffee. It becomes a ritual and is earth-friendly because you don't have filters or little pucks from those machines.

It's simple and to the point.

Now I used to be one of these people who would get a double-double from Tim Horton's - that's double cream, double sugar. If you haven't been to Canada, you may not know what I'm talking about but just go with it.

Then some time during or after uni, I dropped the sugar and had milk (yes, cow's milk).

Now, in my 40's, I've switched to oat's milk. Yes, oat milk.

In my coffee.

I never thought I would see the day, and that's ok.

I've made my own almond milk before, but having rice milk with my smoothie and now oat milk with my coffee have been life-changing. It's all about trial and error. What makes you feel good and what doesn't.

Have you ever had a food journal?

It's where you log what you eat and drink and then how you feel afterwards.

If you are feeling sluggish or different lately, it could be the food you're eating or liquids you're drinking.

I find that as a woman, fat around the belly is either hormonal or food related.

I can't say for men, since I do not have their body.

But for women, it's biology, what can I say?
